Proven Exclusivity Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz cars are well known for their high quality and durability, the main reasons why they have such strong residual values after many years. Thus even though they are rather expensive to acquire new, many feel that the money is worth it in the long term. And even those who buy a secondhand Mercedes usually find that the engineering is so good that it feels solid and runs well in spite of many years and tens of thousands of kilometers on the clock.

Now, in Malaysia, it is possible to buy secondhand – or what is termed 'pre-owned’ -Mercedes cars that are almost as good as new not only in build quality but also coming with some of the things that new car buyers get. These are cars which have gone through the Proven Exclusivity program which certifies pre-owned cars that meet high standards set by Mercedes-Benz.

Cars which are certified under the Proven Exclusivity program will have gone through a comprehensive 215-point inspection (which takes about 4 to 5 hours) by trained personnel. They would be not more than 5 years old and have mileage that is not exceeding 100,000 kms (and this mileage is double-checked against service records). Needless to say, all ownership matters are also checked to ensure that there are no encumbrances (ie outstanding loans not settled) which can cause problems for the new owner.

Thus a car that qualifies under the Proven Exclusivity program is impeccable in all respects – virtually like a brand new one – and that means the new owner can have a great deal of peace of mind. Furthermore, each car comes with a 12-month/20,000-km (whichever comes first) warranty that is generally similar to the warranty for a new Mercedes-Benz.

A wide range of models will be available under the Proven Exclusivity program and every car will come with a 12-month/20,000-km warranty

“One of the things that should be noted is that many of the cars which we will sell under the program have been assembled in Malaysia and it is a testimony to the high standards of local assembly that they can meet the stringent standards which Mercedes-Benz sets for certifying pre-owned cars under the program,” said Florian Mueller, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. The company presently assembles the C, E and S-Class models.

Price-wise, a Mercedes that has been through the Proven Exclusivity program would not be the same as any other secondhand one, and justifiably so. During the inspection, if certain parts are not in a good or safe condition, they will be replaced with genuine parts. Should servicing happen to be due, then the car will receive it in accordance with the maintenance schedule.

“Buyers of pre-owned Mercedes-Benz cars that have been through the Proven Exclusivity program can rest assured that their cars carry the same standards that owners of new Mercedes-Benz cars have long been used to,” said Peter Honegg, President/CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. “And being Mercedes-Benz owners, they will also be accorded the same hospitality and customer care by our dealers, and of course the same high quality of after-sales support too. This includes the 24-hour Roadside Assistance service”

He said that the program, which has proven very successful in a number of other countries, is only supported by authorized Mercedes-Benz dealerships and for now, there are five dealerships which will offer the certified pre-owned cars under the Proven Exclusivity program. By early next year, another four more will also be included in the program.

According to Mr Mueller, customers will have a choice of pre-owned Mercedes-Benz cars at dealerships as well as the certified pre-owned cars under the Proven Exclusivity program. “There is strong demand for used cars and sometimes, customers may be satisfied with a pre-owned car and buy it right away. However, under certain circumstances, a customer can also request for a pre-owned car to be put through the Proven Exclusivity certification process which the dealer will then carry out. That means he or she will then get the added benefits that the program offers.”

Mercedes-Benz Green Car

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter line in Europe will now offer two variants carrying the automaker’s BlueEFFICIENCY label that denotes the use of environmentally positive technologies. These two models are quite different in their approach but both achieve improved environmental performance through higher efficiency or the use of an alternative fuel. They’re identified with BlueEFFICIENCY badges located near their left and right B-pillars.

Sprinters equipped with the automaker’s new efficiency package use a newly developed four-cylinder engine and ECO Gear transmission, along with an ECO start/stop function. The new diesel engine features three optional output ratings that include 95, 129, and 163 hp, covering almost all needs for vans in the Sprinter class. All offer notable pulling power with torque ratings of 184, 225, or 265 lb-ft torque that comes on strong at low engine speeds. The engines connect to a new ECO Gear six-speed manual transmission with an especially low first gear and an overdrive sixth that lower engine operating speeds.

Mercedes-Benz Qualiti

Since its inception, Mercedes-Benz had a reputation for its quality and durability. Objective measures looking at passenger vehicles such as J.D. Power surveys demonstrated a downturn in reputation in this criteria in the late 1990s and early 2000s. By mid-2005, Mercedes temporarily returned to the industry average for initial quality, a measure of problems after the first 90 days of ownership, according to J.D. Power. In J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study for the first quarter of 2007, Mercedes showed dramatic improvement by climbing from 25th to 5th place, surpassing quality leader Toyota and earning several awards for its models. For 2008, Mercedes-Benz's initial quality rating improved by yet another mark, now in fourth place.

On top of this accolade, it also received the Platinum Plant Quality Award for its Mercedes’ Sindelfingen, Germany assembly plant. As of 2009, Consumer Reports of the United States has changed their reliability ratings for several Mercedes-Benz vehicles to "average," and recommending the E-Class and the S-Class.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz is a German manufacturer of luxury automobiles, buses, coaches, and trucks. It is currently a division of the parent company, Daimler AG (formerly DaimlerChrysler AG), after previously being owned by Daimler-Benz. Mercedes-Benz has its origins in Karl Benz's creation of the first gasoline-powered automobile in January 1886,and by Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach's conversion of a carriage by the addition of a petrol engine the same year.

The Mercedes automobile was first marketed in 1901 by Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. The first Mercedes-Benz brand name vehicles were produced in 1926, following the merger of Karl Benz's and Gottlieb Daimler's companies into the Daimler-Benz company.Mercedes-Benz has introduced many technological and safety innovations that have become common in other vehicles several years later.
